				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Robin Young remembers Sara Gifford from grade school. She moved away before Middle School, but perhaps some of you remember her:</p>
<p>Sara A. Robertson, 56, of Jamestown, died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2013), in the Buffalo Veterans Administration Medical Center, after courageous battle with cancer.</p>
<p>She was born May 7, 1957, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Floyd C. and the late Hazel (Bunston) Gifford.</p>
<p><a href="http://swcs1974.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/sara-gifford-robertson.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-396" alt="Sara Gifford Robertson" src="http://swcs1974.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/sara-gifford-robertson.jpg?w=500"   /></a>A 1974 graduate of Dunkirk High School, she was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her favorite place was her summer camp and building bonfires that were seen for miles. She was best known around Jamestown as one of the best female pool players in the area.</p>
<p>She is survived by two brothers: Steve Gifford of Jamestown, and George (Kathy) Gifford; her niece, Mikki of Akeley, Pa.; a sister, Beth (Dan) Wassell and nephews: Jason and Damien and niece, Denielle of East Haven, Conn.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her father on Nov. 9, 1992; her mother on Nov. 14, 2001; by a brother Mark Robertson on Feb. 8, 2001; and by her best friend in the entire world, her loving dog, Princess.</p>
<p>A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.</p>
<p>Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Veterans Administration Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, NY 14215.</p>

Sweeney, 56, of 9740 Davey Hill Road, Tidioute, Pa., passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at her residence.</p>
<p>She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 1956, a daughter of Evelyn E. (Stufflebeam) and William A. Sweeney, of Kortwright Road, Jamestown, N.Y.</p>
<p>Kathy graduated from Southwestern High School in Jamestown, N.Y. in 1974. She was employed at the USDA Forest Service in Irvine at the Forestry Science Lab for the past 20 years. She especially loved spending time on the river.</p>
<p>She was a lifetime member of the AMVETS ladies auxiliary in Sugar Grove, the VFW in Tidioute and the Halgren-Wilcox Post 658 of the American Legion in Youngsville. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>She is survived by her parents and three sisters: Judy (Gary) Fry, of Sugar Grove, Pa.; Becky (Jeff) Wilbur, of Yukon, Okla., and Marjorie (the late Scott) Roy, of Jamestown, N.Y.; a sister-in-law Mary Sweeney, of Ashville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Sweeney Jr. in October 2012.</p>
<p>Friends will be received on Wednesday, Dec. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Branch of McKinney Funeral Homes where a celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Haight, pastor of Mission Covenant Church, officiating.</p>
<p>The family suggests those wishing to place memorials may do so to a charity of choice. <p>He was born January 31, 1927 in Titusville, PA, the son of the late Clarence and Lillian Penglase Windoft. </p>
<p>After serving in the U.S. Army, Bud graduated from Edinboro University and later received his Master&#8217;s Degree from St. Bonaventure University.<br />
He began his career as a history teacher at Southwestern Central School, moving on to administration and retiring as principal of the middle school. Following retirement, Bud enjoyed his second career as a licensed real estate broker with Winturn Realty. </p>
<p>He was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post American Legion and the Lakewood Rod &amp; Gun Club. </p>
<p>Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen Warner Windoft whom he married in 1976; seven children: Celeste (Dana) Bolles of Erie, PA, Betsy (Don) Johnson of Lakewood, NY, Kellie (David) Bargar of Lakewood, Maryann (Robert) Whitney of Jamestown, Thomas (Andrea) Windoft of Lakewood, Michael (Melissa) Windoft of Erie and Casey (Amy) Windoft of Lakewood; 14 grandchildren: Whitney and Jeffrey Bolles, Apryl Jackson Troutman, Gregory Jackson, Nathaniel, Kristen and William Bargar, Todd Whitney, Benjamin and Brock Windoft, Sara and Cristofer Windoft, Emily and Carter Windoft; two great-grandchildren: Quentin and Abigail Bolles; three step-sons: Dr. James (Valerie), David and Thomas Scarpino; six step-grandchildren: Lisa, Julie and Laurie Scarpino, Madison Borst and Holly and Morgan Scarpino; and his mother-in-law, Emily Warner of Lakewood. </p>
<p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Windoft Jennings and his step-mother, Eliza Windoft. </p>
<p>The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday (Dec 17 2011) in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. </p>
<p>Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday (Dec 16 2011), and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday (Dec 17 2011). </p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakewood Fire Department, 20 W. Summit St., Lakewood, NY 14750; or to Lutheran Social Services Foundation, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown, NY 14701. </p>

<p>Kenneth L. Williams, 56, of Jamestown, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2011, at home, following a lengthy illness.</p>
<p>He was born April 24, 1955, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the son of David and Barbara Williams.</p>
<p>Prior to his retirement, he worked as an independent painting contractor, and also in the lumber business.</p>
<p>Kenny was known for his humor and love of family.</p>
<p>Surviving are two daughters: Nicole Draffin and Kayla Williams; his mother, Barbara Williams of Leonardtown, Md.; five sisters: Mary Ann Dunlap, Jeannine (George) Armele and Susan Knapp, all of Jamestown, Debbie Purdy, Kingwood, Texas, and Barbara O&#8217;Brien of Leonardtown, Md.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his father, David Williams in 1995.</p>
<p>There will be no visitation. A private celebration of life will be observed by the family. Powers, Present &amp; Sixbey Funeral Home is assisting the family. E-condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com">www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com</a>.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[From Petter:  Doug Green&#8217;s son Doug Green (Jr), was killed in Afghanistan August 28, 2011 by an IED, during a fire fight.  They currently live in Virginia. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>From Petter:  Doug Green&#8217;s son Doug Green (Jr), was killed in Afghanistan August 28, 2011 by an IED, during a fire fight.  They currently live in Virginia. His grandmother lives in Lakewood (Joyce Green).  Doug was finishing up a 4 year tour and was to be discharged in November.</p>

<p>He was born Jan. 31, 1921, to Gordon Shevalier and Mary Beach in Cortland, N.Y.</p>

<p>After graduating from high school, he attended Cortland State Teachers College. During this time, he joined the Army-Air Force and served 3 1/2 years during World War II. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to the college and graduated in 1946. He earned a masters degree in 1947 from Columbia University.</p>
<p>In 1948, he began a long career with the Southwestern Central School District in Lakewood, N.Y., as a physical education instructor and as a coach. He coached varsity teams in baseball, volleyball, basketball, and was an assistant football coach. Prior to his retirement in 1976, he served as the athletic director for five years.</p>
<p>After his retirement, he moved to Venice, Fla. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting.</p>
<p>He is preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl L. Curtis, who died Aug. 28, 1976; and his second wife, Joan L. Illingworth, who died Nov. 19, 2000.</p>
<p>He is survived by a son, Richard J. Shevalier (Beth) of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Linda F. Shevalier of Littleton, Colo.; stepchildren: Karen Leggon (Bob), David Illingworth (Patty) and Gary Illingworth; grandchildren: Richard M. Shevalier (Jehan), Matthew J. Shevalier (Laith), and Jennifer P. Shevalier, all of Richmond, Va., Derek Shannon (Carrie) of Denver, Colo., and Jeremy Shannon (Carla) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; great-grandchildren: Alex, Jehana, Kailey, Matthew, Alanna, Trevor, Gavin, Bryce and Audrey; step grandchildren: Crissy Sabino of North Port, Fla., and Jason (Heather) Sabino of Brighton, Mich., Jaret Illingworth of Phoenix, Ariz., and Melissa, Katelyn and Justin Illingworth of Lake-wood, N.Y.; and great-grandson, Justin Sentell of North Port, Fla.</p>
<p>A funeral service and interment will be held in Jamestown, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.</p>

<p>A native of Jamestown, he was born Dec. 12, 1921, a son of the late Vincent and Josephine Alessandro Calamungi.</p>
<p>He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps serving during World War II and retired from the Army Reserve.</p>
<p>Following his graduation from Jamestown High School he went on to earn a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Canisius College and a master&#8217;s degree from St. Bonaventure University.</p>
<p>Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed by Southwestern Central School District as a history teacher.</p>
<p>He was a communicant of Holy Apostle&#8217;s Parish Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he was active as a Eucharistic Minister and member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and church choir. His other memberships include the Celtics and Knights of Columbus, where he achieved Grand Knight status.</p>
<p>Surviving are his wife, Irene A. K. (Beer) Calamungi, whom he married Sept. 25, 1948; sons: Gottfried S. (Patricia) Calamungi, of St. Augustine, Fla. and Armando V. Calamungi, of Jamestown; granddaughters: Leslie A. Calamungi-Outten, of Orange Park, Fla. and Amanda Calamungi-Paddock, of Jamestown; and a great-granddaughter Nolianna Calamungi-Paddock.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by two brothers: Armando and Joseph Calamungi, and a grandson Richard Vincent Calamungi.</p>
<p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m.</p>

<p>The late Steve Larson was the football teams Honorary Captain for the first game of 2010, Kim and her children were there to represent him.   Also Mark Beckstrand was able to come in from N. Carolina to be the other captain.  He &amp; Steve were captains together in 1972 season.  We are undefeated and playing for sectional title Friday,  Nov. 5th &#8211;  6:30 at Ralph Wilson Std. Game should be on <a href="http://www.wjtn.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.wjtn.com</a>  We have won 38 in a row (WNY Record) and 2 NY state titles, 3rd longest active streak in the country.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>SSEF is having their annual fundraiser selling raffle tickets to raise money for various projects we sponsor each year.  If anybody would be willing to buy a tickets, they would make a check out to SSEF and mail to me at 566 Orchard Rd.  Jamestown, NY 14701.  I will fill out the stubs and turn them in.  If they want their portion of the ticket, I will send it to them.</p>
<p>The tickets are $50.00 each to win a prize of $5,000.00.  Last year after the big prize we gave $50.00 back to every 10 ticket drawn.</p>
